So 16.4 is in the rear view, and if you are above 6′ and don’t regularly walk on your hands you are glad to have 55 handstand push ups in the rear view as well.
This week we are going to continue giving out awards for those participating in The Open. This week we are giving out the Virus Gift Cards to our Team Leaderboard “Climbers”. These athletes started out slow and then began to climb as the weeks went on. This reminds us that our specialty is not in specializing. Our goal with CrossFit is to be broadly capable and adaptable to the highest variety of fitness challenges and life’s demands. These athletes have best demonstrated this as they have consistently climbed the Open Leaderboard.
Our 2 Winners this week are Brian Schultheiss who has jumped 34 positions and Mark Austin who has made a 32 position gain.
We also want to recognize a few other notable athletes: Todd Schwarz deadlifted 225 pounds (90 pounds above bodyweight) 55 times! He went RX and pulled an amazing feat of strength. Alice Warren got all the way through to the HSPU at the RX weight! Irene Bold who had never lifted the prescribed deadlift weight before did! And then did it 54 more times! As coaches we get SUPER pumped to see you guys forge ahead and break through barriers!
16.5 and 16.6 are coming up this Friday–if you don’t know about 16.6 just ask someone…maybe Reed Hauge who is last year’s champion 😉
We will be doing a BBQ starting at 3:30pm. We will have food and carbohydrate carbonated recovery drinks available. We are just going to workout, hang out and enjoy the end of the Open madness while we do 16.5 together as a Community. You don’t need to bring anything just bring yourself! It has been a fun 4 weeks so far and we don’t see any reason that should change. See you in the gym!
A special thank you to Tommy Esposito for taking such awesome action shots last Friday! Check his work out at Esposito Studios.
