CFT Teams at Tribal Clash  June 15 - 16
In two weeks, Crossfit Tustin will be sending three 6 person teams (1 team = 3 gals, 3 guys) to Tribal Clash to have some fun in the sun. This ain't your dad's Crossfit competition.
First off, IT'S ON THE BEACH!

Locationbetween Tower 8 and Tower 9 on Huntington State Beach, in front of the Lifeguard Headquarters.

Second, they are all about having a good time. Spectators are free of charge and they give out a prize for the team that brings the best attitude and fans!

The events are unconventional and super fun to watch. We'll shoot out more information over social media next week about where to meet up!
CFT Lift Off - Saturday July 20th (8-10am)

Super Informal Olympic Weightlifting Meet

In place of a normal class, you'll have the opportunity to flex your 1 Rep Max muscles.

The RULES are simple:

  • 1 men's bar and 1 women's bar.
  • When the weight is at your liking, step up and take your attempt. You only get 3, so use them wisely!
  • The first hour will be dedicated to the task of getting the bar from the ground to the overhead position in one motion aka The Snatch
  • During the second hour, the objective is the same, however you must stop at the shoulders on your way up overhead aka The Clean and Jerk

There will most likely be beer, loud music, and your most adoring fans!
Intended Training Stimulus

Every workout and fitness program has an intended training stimulus. That is the specific desired adaptation achieved through a specific stressful event(s). Now here at Crossfit Tustin, our overall program focuses on General Physical Preparedness, which means we want to be able to handle a vast array of physical demands or challenges.

This list pretty much sums 'em all up...
  • Cardiovascular/Respiratory Endurance - Your ability to gather, process and deliver oxygen.
  • Stamina - Your ability to resist muscle fatigue.
  • Strength - Your ability to productively apply force.
  • Flexibility - Your productive application of range of motion at a given joint.
  • Power -  Your ability to apply maximum force in minimum time.
  • Speed - The ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement.
  • Coordination - The ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement.
  • Agility - The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.
  • Balance - The ability to control your center of gravity in relation to your base of support.
  • Accuracy - The ability to control movement in a given direction at a given intensity.
(Thanks to Jim Crawley and Bruce Evans for that comprehensive breakdown.)

Ask yourself everyday you are in the gym, "Which one of those am I going to get better at today?"

Pro tip for becoming super fit:

If you are good it, spend a little less time and energy on it. If you are bad at it, use most of your energy to engage with it as much as possible.

If you're not quite sure how to use the class WOD to challenge your weaknesses, ask your coach. They would love to help you, they are passionate about it.
What is fitness?

If you've never read the original article by the founder of Crossfit, please take some time to cozy up with this beautiful piece of work. Even if you have already read it, breeze through it again... it's so good. (15 minute read time)

"...the specter of championing a fitness program without clearly defining what it is that the program delivers combines elements of fraud and farce."

Nutrition is not complicated, despite Experts best efforts.
Take a listen as EC Synkowski breaks it down real simple in "Mastering the Fundamentals of Nutrition."

Pay specific attention to the 800 gram Challenge

We are probably going to be taking it on as a community in the near future.
